About Amarvilas
The Oberoi Amarvilas is the only hotel with direct, uninterrupted
views of the Taj Mahal. The hotel lies just 600 metres from what is
one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. The Oberoi
Armavilas opened in January 2001 and is breathtakingly luxurious
hotel. There is only one way to truly experience the Taj Mahal.
The challenge for Bombay-based architect Prabhat Patki was to create
a haven that would reflect the exotic grandeur of the monuments
around them. The aim was to provide guests with every modern service
in luxury and comfort, while adhering to strict planning laws.
He succeeded. Straight out of an Indian fairytale, The Oberoi
Amarvilas - Sanskrit for ‘Eternal Haven’ - is set among lush and
serene Mughal-inspired pools and terraced gardens. Ancient and
traditional Persian and Moorish influences combine with the very
best in modern Indian interior design.
This fusion is exhibited to spectacular effect in the cobalt blue
and gold domed entrance hall, whose windows frame a fabulous vista
of the Taj Mahal. Sixty-four fountains, filigreed stone bridges and
pillars greet guests as they cross the torch-lit forecourt of the
ceremonial entrance pavilion of what appears to be a Mughal palace
Remarkably, all 105 bedrooms and all the suites enjoy uninterrupted
breathtaking views of the Taj Mahal. |

Restaurant & Bar
Bellevue: Bellevue, the main restaurant of Hotel Amarvilas
Agra, is open all day from 6.30am to 10.30pm. Modern
Asian-Mediterranean fusion cuisine is served here. The menu features
soups, salads, grilled meats, pastas and desserts. There is often a
buffet service at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Special children’s
menus are available during the day.
Esphahan: The more formal Esphahan, with richly detailed
interiors, serves traditional Indian dishes. Esphahan is open for
dinner only. Theme evenings feature live performances of traditional
Sitar and Tabla music.
Lobby Lounge: Just the place for a reviving cafetiere or a
quiet cup of Darjeeling, The elegant French-inspired tea-lounge is
on the ground floor of hotel Amarvilas Agra and has a wonderful view
of the Taj Mahal.
Bar: For an aperitif or a late digest if guests choose the
teak-panelled Bar. The bar features an antique map of the Taj Mahal
and a magnificent view of the Taj Mahal itself.
